Mermaids dream of glowing, sparkling coral reefs and chests full of pearls
I carve mermaid dreams out of wax, and cast them in silver to complement pearls selected for their exquisite shape and luster.
The large Mermaid Dreams signet rings are custom-made, they start at around 500 euros.
Step 1
The Pearl
The signet rings are sculpted around a pearl. This can be a big sculptural baroque pearl, or a softer, smaller nugget, egg or coin shape.
Step 2
Sculpting and fitting
Here we chose a cream-colored nugget pearl, that will "float" in its setting. I sculpt the signet ring from blue wax.
Step 3
Silver
The wax model is cast in silver, polished, and the pearl is set in place.
Do you prefer gold?
Any ring, necklace or bracelet can be gold-plated. For pieces that could be subject to a lot of wear, I recommend the thickest layer of gold. For this pearl ring, we went for 10 microns of gold, which is much more than the usual gold-plating (1 to 3 micron).
